Project Build Wrap-up
We are nearing the point with the Motor City’s Ultimate Ram Project where 95% of our chosen accessories have been installed. We are waiting for the arrival of our Wilco Offorad HITCHGATE spare tire (and Hi-Lift jack + Jerry Can Carrier) to complete the rear of the Ram with our 37″ Toyo. Wilco is a great American company who fully support our troops and law enforcement. We’ve used there hard-core HITCHGATE back on our Ultimate F150 Project and it is bullet proof and looks tough as h$ll.

SofTopper – INSTALLED!
We installed our SofTopper. This is the forth or fifth SofTopper in our family with the first dating back many years. Although always a quality product, it was nice to see that this latest iteration has all of their years of experience in it… many little things from the altered front angle to match the RAM’s cab, the easily adjustable and replaceable side snaps to the re-designed rear window lower bar all improved upon an excellent product.
The instructions – although we really didn’t need them because we’ve done this many times – were clear and concise with pictures you actually could make sense of.
The ability of the cap to be collapsed forward providing complete use of the truck bed makes this one of the best bed cover options available. We opted for a storage cover for the cap when folded forward and also a rear screen window which makes this a great camper shell. More photos and video to come.

- Softopper
Softopper – official bed cover of Ultimate Ram Project
We will be installing the Softopper on our Ultimate Ram project truck. Softopper’s folding truck caps replace heavy, fiberglass or metal camper shells and provide cab-high protection that a flat tonneau cover cannot. It can quickly collapse forward out of the way or is easily removed all together to make room for larger loads.
We as well as many family and friends have used Softopper on many of our previous trucks and have been very happy with both its performance, looks and the great customer service at this American company.
BedRug for this truck too!
The Bed Rug is an innovative product that we were initially leery of. All of the guys in the shop were used to the traditional hard plastic drop-in liners and more recently spray in liners which we all had used for years. I actually bought a Bed Rug for my last truck and put it through the paces of typical Michigan truck ownership – rustic camping, firewood hauling, fishing trips, furniture, moving family/friends and naturally tailgating. The Bed Rug excelled in all areas durable, easy to clean and very comfortable to sit or sleep on during some of those trips. For these reasons it was a no-brainer for our Motor City’s Ultimate Ram Project. Visit their website and do some research of your own. They look awesome and hold up tremendously well.

Undercover SwingCase
We have again chosen the Undercover SwingCase for our Ultimate Ram project. We have used these bed toolboxes in previous truck builds an have been very pleased with the innovation design and usefulness. Once they are installed in the new Ram we will be sure to post some more photos.
